Edwin Fang has been practicing as an architect in Los Angeles for more than 20 years, although he’s not originally from LA, he’s been more of an Angeleno than a Taiwanese or a South African. His journey provides a unique, multicultural lens to the built environment. Born in Taiwan, he spent his formative years in South Africa, earning his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town before completing his Master’s at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
Over two decades, Edwin honed his expertise as a lead designer at esteemed Los Angeles firms, including Hodgetts + Fung and Johnson Fain Architects, where he contributed to award-winning, multidisciplinary projects ranging from bespoke single-family homes to performing art centers. In 2025, he founded Studio Fang, focusing on the synthesis of design excellence and sustainable resilience. The practice currently leverages cutting-edge technology, such as Passive House, notably in fire rebuild projects, a commitment that aligns perfectly with Fort LA’s mission to champion the future of thoughtful design in the region.
